Vernon Bonse
President


MA in Deafness Rehabilitation from New York University and currently serves as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Coordinator at Independent Living, Inc. Also currently teaches American Sign Language and Deaf Culture in different colleges and other places since 1987. Holds a professional certificate in American Sign Language Teacher Association. Enjoys hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities.

Michael Cross
Vice President

I’m Michael Cross, the Vice President of ESAD and the deaf resident of New York State. I believe instead of complaining about my rights and the quality of my life, I join ESAD to take the action for the betterment of my life as well as for the deaf and hard of hearing people in NYS.

Susan Snyder
Treasurer

Hails from St. Mary’s school for the deaf, acquired business diploma from NTID/RIT and associate degree in Visual Communication & Business Administration from American InterContinental University. An avid bowler who continues to play in leagues. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her 9 grandchildren.

Colette Steves
Secretary

Grew up in Spring Valley, NY, mainstreamed until sophomore year where I transferred to New York School for the Deaf – Fanwood. Earned Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently works as BOCES substitute teacher and teacher assistant at Westmere Elementary School Saratoga Springs, NY. Has a deep love for travel with family. Longing to dye her hair purple, but doesn’t have any guts to do it!

Dale Juneau
North Country Regional Representative


Known as “Beaver Hunter” when I removed a beaver from the child-care faculty. Retired after working 13 years as Director of maintenance for the Plattsburgh YMCA. Married to my lovely wife of 38 years, Diana. We have 3 furry kids in our family. We all enjoy camping, riding the Harley’s and helping the community. Enjoys tinkering on technological stuff and among of things.

William Wiley
Utica Civic Association of the Deaf Representative

William, also known as Will, resides in Rome, N.Y. with his partner Derek, and a 11-year-old black/tan dachshund. He is an account administrator at BNY Mellon, he investigates wire transfers from all over the world.
In Will’s spare time, he enjoys volunteering for several organizations in various roles. He is also an avid coffee drinker and enjoys checking out new coffee houses.

Merton Snyder
Southwest Association of the Deaf (SWAD) Representative

Retiree who hailed from St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo, NY with Graphic Arts degree from Minnesota Technical Vocational Institute. Enjoys babysitting the grandchildren while teaching them ASL. He’s well-known for sharing funny stories along with jokes in ASL.
